Vision for the nursery

The nursery has been set up to supply both the Walled Garden and the public with heritage plants and vegetables, ensuring old cultivars are being planted in gardens across the county. Over the year, seasonal vegetables will supply local pubs, restaurants and the public.

As well as stocking popular and traditional annuals and perennials, our aim in setting up the nursery was to provide a source of quality native species to encourage people to plant for local wildlife. The nursery also focuses on heritage and heirloom plants and vegetables to ensure their survival into the future.

In the future, we also hope to develop the space within the garden to accommodate education groups, courses, craft events as well as a sensory garden is to provide interest for those with physical or visual impairments. If you would like to be involved or know of a group who would like to use the Walled Garden, please get in touch!
