Volunteering

What does it involve?

Tea and biscuits and chatting with some worky bits either side!

There are plenty of different tasks to do to suit your range of skills.  Depending on the season there is sowing, planting, weeding, harvesting, watering, seed collection, mulching, pruning, grass cutting.

We also have themed sessions that may be focussed on dead hedging, composting, companion planting and other specific ideas connected with growing in a sustainable way.

Some tasks will need a good level of physical fitness, while others less so and even some that can be done sitting down.

How long will I need to be there?

We aim to start around 10am and finish mid-afternoon but you are welcome to come for an hour or longer as you wish.

We are aiming to put on a weekly session and again it is your choice to come when you want to.

For now we are advertising the volunteering sessions individually so keep an eye out for our posters or look at the website or our other social media platforms.

Will I learn something?

We use the principles of regenerative agriculture and of permaculture in the Meadow as a way of looking after the soil and the general welfare of plants.

There is no formal teaching but just by doing some things you haven't done before or doing something familiar in a different way you will learn about this way of growing plants and tending the soil.

Our staff are knowledgable but not infallible so often we are learning too.

We are also aiming to grow the feeling of community so that coming along feels like an energy boost.  We do not only appreciate what you can do but also who you are.
